Subject: Federal Register Proposed Rule - Importation of Solid Wood Packing Material
Importance: High     Expiration Date: June 20, 2003

ATTENTION:   The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has proposed an amendment to 7 CFR Part 319 for the importation of solid Wood Packing Material. For your convenience, we have provided a link to the proposed rule to give all interested persons an opportunity to participate in the final rule making prior to the adoption of the final rule. See document for Public Hearing dates and locations.

If Department of Defense members have comments, please forward them to either OADUSD or NAVICP. All other parties, please submit comments to: regulations@aphis.usda.gov.   NOTE: Your comment must be contained in the body of your message; do not send attached files. Please include your name and address in your message and 'Docket No. 02-032-02' on the subject line. Should you opt to mail your comments, please see document for mailing address and instructions.

  • Subject: USDA's INFO on The Heat Treatment (HT) Program
    Importance: High     Expiration Date: UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    Special Note: A modification has been made to the quality marks administerd by the grading agencies under the American Lumber Standards committee whereby the no bug mark has been eliminated at this time. Recommendation has been made by the EU Commission to the Member States of the European Union to recognize the modified markings as complying with the European Union measure for the heat treatment of coniferous non manufactured wood packaging destined to the European Union. Please see mark for NMWP using 100% heat treated lumber.

  • Subject: Solid Wood Packing Materials
    Importance: High     Expiration Date: NONE

    Industry Alert: As of September 10, 2002 please be advised that Solid Wood Packing Regulations for US SWPM to Peoples Republic of China have NOT changed. There is no new requirement nor authorization at this time for the fumigation of either softwood or hardwood packing materials destined to China. For current certification information of solid wood packing materials destined to China either follow the link to China or visit http://www.aphis.usda.gov/oa/chinaswp/chinarule.html. The China web page will be updated with new information as official information is received.
